Parent interview data indicate noteworthy progress in the child’s ability to participate in home, school, and family activities. Although these findings cannot be generalized, they provide preliminary evidence supporting the theory and the effectiveness of this approach.This can tackle the developmental and social delays before they interfere too much with the child’s life.Often autism is treated through therapies that address the child’s specific needs. This article presents a case report of a child with poor sensory processing and describes the disorder’s impact on the child’s occupational behavior and the changes in occupational performance during 10 months of occupational therapy using a sensory integrative approach (OT-SI). Retrospective chart review of assessment data and analysis of parent interview data are reviewed.Progress toward goals and objectives is measured using goal attainment scaling.A person with Asperger Syndrome has “normal intelligence and language development, but also some autistic-like traits” (Boyse).Some of these autistic-like behaviors are trouble understanding social cues and needing a structured routine.This means that the child does not have all symptoms or as severe symptoms that are prevalent in other autism disorders.Rett Syndrome “is a rare, severe, “girls only” form of autism.While ASD is the fastest growing developmental disability, there is no cure for it; however, there is research being done on how to cure autism.Various treatment options are available to help people with autism.
