The evening continues like this until my aunt announces that supper is ready. It is curious that as children, humans have the ability to observe and remember details of specific situations and instances yet lack the ability to describe them.
My second vivid memory of Christmas relates to a television advertisement that I saw on television for the Sears: Wish Book, the store's annual Christmas catalog.
I at least understood that there was more to it than presents and candy canes.
There was always a lot of food and many gifts, but for the first four or five years of my life, I had no clue what we were celebrating. That's all I really needed until I stumbled upon a Christmas special on television entitled A Charlie Brown Christmas.
I really don't think I cared too much, being a young child caught up in all the excitement. I must have been four or five years old at the time, I can't remember for sure, but I don't think I had started kindergarten yet.
Finally, we arrive at Aunt Jane's house, our long journey is over.
We take a huge breath as we step out onto the crispy snow that crunches beneath our boots. I make my way to the frost-coated door that's illuminated by red and green Christmas lights. As I open the door and step into the house, the smell of different Christmas odors surrounds me and makes my mouth water.I hear voices laughing , talking, and inquiring who's at the door. Some families have their own unique way of celebrating those special moments with the ones they love.My most cherished memory as a child was Christmas day with my own family.Capote utilizes "fiction of nostalgia" style, in which he looks back upon his Southern childhood, to tell the story and to display its themes of memory and reminiscence and friendship among social outcasts. Ramirez English I Honors, P/AP 14 November 2005 It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas "A Christmas Memory," by Truman Capote, is a story about a young boy and his much older cousin who live together and are the best of friends.Although they live with crabby relatives, they make the best of the time spent with each other and grow closer as the days go by.Suddenly my aunt is upon us giving us hugs and inviting us into the house. As my family and I are quickly shuffled in by my aunt I look around.Maybe because of the special atmosphere that you can feel everywhere, in shops, restaurants , pubs and even streets, where you can hear the magical carols, or maybe it's because of its religious background, but what I can tell you for sure is that I can't think of anything more exciting than the image of the entire family preparing the Christmas Tree or fixing the Christmas dishes. When I think of Christmas the first thing that pops into my mind is the delicious Chocolate Cake that only my grandma knows how to prepare.
